Nanhee Kim is a Canadian textile sculptor, fashion/textile designer and educator based in Toronto. Her work is inspired by the ephemeral tranquility, escapism and inner peace that nature briefly provides to people.

Kim’s work has been selected for juried exhibitions such as “Fibreworks 2020” at Cambridge Art Galleries/Idea Exchange (Canada), “Craft Nouveau 2020” at Blue Line Arts (USA), “Craft Forms 2019” at the Wayne Art Center (USA), “Beyond the Surface” at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild (USA, 2019), as well as “Fiberart International 2010” at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery (USA) and Pittsburgh Center for the Arts (USA). Her pieces have also exhibited at Pitti Uomo (Italy), Indigo Paris (France) and the New York Design Center (USA).

Kim’s awards include research and creation grants in visual arts from Canada Council for the Arts (2021 and 2020) and a craft project grant in visual arts from Ontario Arts Council (2020). Kim’s work has been featured in International Textiles and Interior Design magazines, as well as in Boston Phoenix and Providence Phoenix newspapers.

Her professional experience includes working as an assistant professor at Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Fashion and as a fashion designer in New York City and Vancouver. Kim received an MFA with Honours in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design (USA); a BA in Textile Design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts London (UK); and a BSc in Fashion Design from Dong-A University (South Korea).
